To the west along the A4086 road from Capel Curig the Dyffryn Mymbyr valley opens out beyond Plas y Brenin, and apart from the forestry plantation on the slopes of Moel Siabod there is little evidence of man's presence other than a few scattered hill farms. In the distance the peaks of Snowdon group capture the attention and it is easy to ignore the broad, seemingly featureless hillside to the right, the southern flank of the Glyder Fach to Gallt yr Ogof ridge. But this extensive area is not without interest for the climber: Craig yr Haul is the least-frequented crag in the valley but offers a varied selection of climbs on good rock, enhanced by its sunny aspect. The RAC Boulders are a well known venue with roadside access and the nearby crag has some concentrated testpieces. Finally, Creigiau Llynnau Mymbyr offer steep pitches on clean rock with easy access for a short visit.
Went last Saturday in good weather, anticipating that it might be busy, but had the place to ourselves. Routes a bit dirtier than expected which required care on the foot placements in a damp October. FrJ - 25/Oct/12 |

I recently climbed on 'The Blocks' and was pleasantly surprised. Short routes but packed with great moves and stiff for the grade...well worth a quick visit :o) Nicholas Livesey - 25/Apr/11 |
