The climbing at Heidenkammern, also known as the Buchkammerfels, is located on the west ridge of the Heidenberg. It is visited by many non-climbers for the rooms carved into the rock, which allegedly served as a prison cell for the neighbouring Drachenfels Castle, according to a record of 1635.
There are some good routes here in particular Fred-Frey-Gedächtnisweg which forges an impressive line up the beautiful red sandstone.
