Fantasia (L2) - 9b First Ascent by Cédric Lachat
Swiss climber Cédric Lachat (38) has made the first ascent of Fantasia (L2) at X in the Vercors and has suggested 9b. If confirmed, the line is his first of the grade.
In this week's Friday Night Video, Nina Caprez and Cédric Lachat attempt Beat Kammerlander's WoGü in the spectacular Rätikon range of Switzerland. Named after the late Wolfgang Güllich, the route was opened by Kammerlander in 1997 but didn't see a full free ascent until a young Adam Ondra came along in 2008.
To this day, the route sees very few ascents and is considered one of the hardest multi-pitches in the Alps. The difficulty of the individual pitches is as follows: 8c, 7c+, 8b+/c, 8b, 8b+, 8a+, 7c+.
