Kieron Mackenzie and Andy Moir from the Mountain Boot Company will be attempting to summit Hungchi in the Khumbu region of Nepal in October this year. The peak was released for climbing in 2003 and since then it has had only two successful attempts by Japanese and Korean teams.

Kieron an experienced mountaineer has visited the area no less than 12 times over the years and first saw the peak in 2005 from a distance while crossing the Cho La Pass in the Everest region. Since then he has been trying to get a big enough team together to attempt the peak. He now has an eight strong team which includes Andy Moir from the MBC and Steve Heiniger from Allcord.

The team will be leaving on the 3rd October returning Sunday 1st November and will be doing a lot of training between now and then. Once in Nepal they will have a short internal flight to Lukla before beginning an eight day trek to the base of the 7030 mtrs high mountain. The team plan to put two camps on the mountain, the first at 6000 mtrs and the second at 6500 mtrs.

The team are having a fantastic reaction from the outdoor trade who are offering great support for the commitment shown by the team and furthermore are very impressed that they are attempting such an ambitious peak.
