Dark and White

It was the Dark and White RAB Mini-Mountain Marathon today, held out of Hayfield on Kinder in the Peak District. The objective of the game is to visit as many controls in 3 hours.

Results will be up soon on the Dark and White website. www.darkandwhite.co.uk

Once the race has finished someone or some people have to trog over the moors and gather up all the controls, flags, stakes and those little devices that you put your dibber into!

There were four volunteers: Simon Patton (brother of one of the Dark and White organisers, Rich Patton), Andy Barnett, Greg Rimmer and myself.

RAB

After a night of a little too much food and drink in the company of Mark Radtke, Dave Barton and friends, Greg and myself high-tailed it from Skipton to join Simon and Andy at the Hayfield Scout Group Hut and we set off up Sir William Clough and on to Kinder. Not content with gathering up the controls we also made a visit to a Dark Peak Fell Running Club Ammo Box hidden at Fairbrook Naze to record our names and eat chocolate.

OK, OK. I've also included some photographs of Kinder Downfall. And No! You Can't!

I see you lot took the soft option and went up in daylight :-) We were watching the MMM from the Shooting Cabin - it looked great running conditions. Glad you had such good weather for it and enjoyed our hills! Come on back for the Kinder Trial in a fortnight.

This was my first Mini Mountain Marathon great fun. It made me realise I need to get a lot fitter. Well done getting all the controls in.
