RAB Mountain Marathon
UKC Articles, Apr 2011
The Rab® Mountain Marathon is organised by Dark & White Challenge Events and will take place on the weekend of 24th/25th September 2011, the exact location details are released a month before the event.
The 2010 event took place in the North East Lake District and featured stunning scenery, quiet fells and beautiful weather as well as some great competitive running.
Rab have produced a video of the 2010 mountain marathon to give you an insight into what is involved in this kind of event - unfortunately they can't guarantee to provide good weather every year!
What they can guarantee is an event that is suitable for all, from walkers right through to elite fell runners- do as much or as little as you like whilst navigating between check points.
The Rab Mountain Marathon is run under FRA (Fell Running Association) rules and guidelines and is a classic mountain marathon/navigational challenge in the mountains for solos or pairs; all courses are set up on a score basis with a time limit therefore fitness, event strategy and navigational skill is the key to success. Competitors have to be self sufficient for the two days and there is a remote campsite on the Saturday night.
