The 4th June 2011 saw the largest ever ROC Fest at Rock Over Climbing. With over 240 competitors, another 100 spectators the atmosphere was hot!

The Beginner, Vets and Junior categories were hugely popular, taking up 50% of the total entries. Daniela Sun, who has been climbing for only 6 months, described the event:
"The ROC Fest was inspirational, really sociable, and watching the finals made me want to get better and come back to the next ROC Fest".

Mike McAdams, having climbed for only 6 weeks, said:
"Absolutely amazing, the atmosphere was electric. The finals were a brilliant spectacle!"

Ian Vickers set testing problems for the Men's Finals, with the Beastmaker boys Ned Freehally and Dan Varian coming 1st and 2nd respectively, despite it being Dan's first competition! Dan summed up the atmosphere:
"When I pulled on for the last time and caught the hold, the deafening sound of the crowd made me think 'I want to win' and urged me on to within an inch of the top!"

The taxing problems set by Jamie Cassidy saw a hard fought Women's Final, with Shauna Coxsey coming out on top and Mina Leslie-Wujastyk hot on her heels. Check out www.rockoverclimbing.co.uk for full results and photo gallery photo gallery.

There were 10 categories, ranging from Open Male and Open Female to Beginners, which provided a great day's climbing for everyone. As well as a £2000 cash prize fund, there was over £1500 worth of amazing prizes provided by our sponsors: Cotswold, DMM, Climber Magazine, Maverick Slacklines, Boreal, Proper Maid, Beastmaker, Helly Hansen, Lyon, Frog and Bucket, Booker, Love2eat, UKBouldering.com and the Climbing Works.

Slacklining, a live band, DJ, DMM Karabiner testing, fancy dress, curry, beer and a great atmosphere ensured everyone had an amazing time, and we're all looking forward to next year's event!
