Joining the line-up for 2016 is the Vanir LT – a bibless version of the Vanir. Both products share the same fit, fabric and components but for those who prefer the lighter weight and simplicity of a non-bibbed mountaineering trouser, the Vanir LT is the ideal choice.
Tommy Kelly, Jöttnar co-founder, says, “Of all items in our range, the Vanir and Vanir LT have both been the most challenging from a design perspective. Articulation, strength, fit and componentry are more severely tested in legwear than in any other category, and so the development process has been fairly consuming – but this does mean that it’s especially satisfying to see them now heading off into the wild. Our Pro Team of Mike Pescod, Alison Culshaw, Mark Thomas and Tom Livingstone, all professional guides and instructors, have played a key role in the design and progress of both these items.
“Like our shell jackets, the Vanir and Vanir LT are designed to withstand the punishment of Scottish winter climbing and ski mountaineering, whilst still being light and packable enough for Alpine summer use. In design terms we strive to streamline and simplify, allowing us to get the best out of NeoShell - which rewards good patterning. The result is robust, lightweight and highly breathable legwear.
“The Vanir and Vanir LT have been two of our most popular pieces and we’ve been especially proud to see them adopted by numerous mountain rescue teams around the country.”
Available in Eucalyptus, Digital Blue and Black, the Vanir and Vanir LT can be purchased directly from Jöttnar or through its network of specialist retailers.
