Big Rock Climbing Centre in Milton Keynes is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our management team. This is a permanent position, looking to start in March 2016, which entails shift work totalling 80 hours across a 2-week rota. Daytime, evening and weekend shifts are required. Supplementary instructional work may also be available. Ideally, we are looking for someone with a background in fitness and training, experience managing a small team, and good customer service skills.
As Duty Manager you will be responsible for opening and closing the centre and ensuring safe and efficient operation. This will include keeping the centre clean and tidy, upholding all Big Rock health and safety policies, cashing up and money handling, managing reception staff, taking bookings for instructed sessions, performing regular checks around the centre, overseeing the café and preparation of light meals and hot drinks, dealing with customer comments/suggestions/complaints in the first instance, along with promoting a good atmosphere throughout the centre in order to satisfy all our customers.
Performance will be measured by: customer feedback; health and safety of customers, visitors and staff; effectiveness and efficiency of reception; and cleanliness and general appearance of the centre. Pay will be related to experience, performance reviews and responsibilities undertaken.
Experience and Qualifications.
The successful applicant will be a self-motivated team leader who will ideally, have the following:
Essential skills.
An understanding of working in a café and a busy environment.
Experience of working with an EPOS systems and social media, or ability to learn how to work with and manage them.
Experience of fitness and training or the leisure industry.
An outgoing and vibrant personality with good ability to interact with people.
Desirable skills.
Climbing Wall Award or Single Pitch Award.
A minimum of First Aid at work.
Although previous experience and qualifications would be advantageous, we will consider applications from anyone who feels they could successfully fill the role.
