Update: The Hunt for Joe Brown's Golden Nuts Gear News

© Joe Browns Shops

Back in the beginning of July the Joe Brown Shops celebrated 50 years by launching a unique competition involving golden nuts. Fifty golden DMM Torque nuts are being placed at 50 classic Joe brown routes across North Wales and the Peak District and any lucky finder sending a selfie of them and their nut to UKC will be entered into a prize draw to win a framed, signed poster of the great man himself.

Running from the 4th July to the 14th August the steady stream of cryptic clues on the JB social media pages have seen a frenzy of climbers channelling their inner trad chimp and ticking off some of the best classic routes the UK has to offer.

“We have had a constant stream of messages from lucky finders saying thank you for such a great competition with folks picking up clues and heading straight out to go and claim their pieces of climbing history. One guy actually left work in Devon at 9pm, drove up to Castell Cidwm in North Wales, picked up his golden nut and then drove back home to be back at work for 11am the next morning!!!”

To date, only 18 of the 50 are known to have been collected so there is still plenty to play for between now and the 14th of August when all of the nuts will be in their locations. Don’t forget to check the joe brown competition web page for details of the ones still yet to be found so that you too can become the proud owner of one of Joe’s Golden Nuts!
