Did a fair amount of climbing in the late '70s & early '80s, based in the west country. After 20 years of inactivity I'm got back into it again, & the buzz was still there. Once upon a time I was known to scrabble about on the odd E1, now I've surpassed all my expectations & got back up to VS, not sure if the body will let me go any further though! Now I'm in Scotland there is just so much rock that I reckon I can be well happy at VS & less.

Best Climbing Experience
Too many & too long ago to be specific, though got a great buzz from some alpine routes. More recently, at Reiff, my first VS in about 20 years (& led too!) to a round of applause from some UKC'ers I hadn't realised were watching. Doing South Ridge Direct on Cir Mhor after just 3 months climbing again, though not in the best style, but what a day out, having the mountain to ourselves.

Interests Outside Climbing
My wonderful children. Good food & fine wine. Photography (particularly whilst climbing, very skilled at one-handed belaying!). Motor racing (unfortunately not participation). More recently assorted versions of kayaking & canoeing. Lastly, but far from least, a certain lass who resides on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
