andybuckley
I'm a particle physics researcher in Edinburgh, having moved here in August 2009. Previously I was based in Durham (hurrah for Northumberland and Teeside sandstone) for 5 years, and before that a very long and arduous time spent in the flats of Cambridge. It turns out that being a Scottish particle physicist is a rather good combo: fantastic local rock and winter climbing, combined with regular trips to CERN in Geneva ;)

Best Climbing Experience
Currently, hitting a Zen state of calm on the steep central ice wall of The Curtain on Ben Nevis in March 2010 (NOT thick ice!), and realising that the only reason to fall would be if I screwed up -- so don't screw up! Cool.

I'm also available for children's parties, barmitzfas, and public science talks on why LHC physics is super-cool ;)
