Best Climbing Experience
Being a child of the dole culture that pervaded climbing in the mid 1980s meant that I had so many great days out climbing. Exploring Lancashire and working through the routes of Hank Pasquill, Ray Evans, Ian Lonsdale, Dave Knighton and Dave Cronshaw was terrific stuff. More latterly struggling on some of the John Hartley test pieces.
Summer 1984 at Pen Trwyn was fantastic, as was dossing around the Peak District with a whole host of characters.
Pritch said to me the other day that I only ever managed to burn him off once, and as I recall that was on a boulder problem in Wilton One that he sulked about saying it was stupid. In fact he was wrong. There was one other.
Worst climbing experience? Widislove. Worst day climbing ever. Fact.
