Best Climbing Experience
First route, Milestone Direct on Tryfan, seconded tied on with a bowline round waist and in work boots aged fifteen. Hooked! Then alternate leads on Great Slab, Curving Crack, Narrow Slab and Longlands on Cloggy in one weekend aged seventeen.

Interests Outside Climbing
History, especially military and mountaineering, current affairs, history of art,economics, photography, music, as in Dixieland Jazz, Jump and Swing. Play swing guitar, clarinet and double bass.

Anything Else We Should Know
Been hillwalking 47yrs, climbing 42yrs on and off, long past pushing grades, never really did climb that hard anyway.I am much more interested in a pleasant day out in good company. Have introduced numerous novices, I feel you have to put a bit back in, after all I have always been grateful to those who introduced me. I currently lead Diff to Severe. My ideal day out would include a couple of long ish routes on a mountain crag followed by a walk back over a couple of tops.eg The Napes followed by Gable summit and Kirkfell then a whizz down Black Sail to the pub.
