Almost, but not quite past it. 50+ years of climbing; both legs broken from separate soloing accidents, Encephalitis almost doing for me at 50. I'm brain-damaged, steel-ankled, and you would be wise not to regard me as a potential climbing partner! However I am still wobbling up VS due to my long-suffering pal, Peter.

Best Climbing Experience
3rd Alpine season, Direct on N face of Dent Du Requin (-VI). Did the route in good style with the long-deceased Stan Tanner, then mucked up the descent badly! We failed to go UP to find the easy way down and ended up doing 30 full length abseils down the face through the night. The first 6 were fine using other people's tat. We were down to 2 pitches on our bootlaces by the end. NOT 'best practice', but we lived to enjoy the grumpiness of the Requin Hut warden.
