I enjoy a good day's cragging but the best climbing days involve a bit of adventure on mutli-pitch routes either in the mountains or on the sea cliffs. Although the NE of Scotland has some great places to climb I like to get away on trips to other climbing venues as much as I can, including some hot rock during the worst of the Scottish winter.
Best Climbing Experience
Its impossible to name just one! The most memorable days generally involve a classic route with good company in the right conditions. Here are some that come to mind:
The Old Man of Hoy – an awesome route on a beautiful island.
Etive Slabs - scary friction climbing!
Caringorms - big days in the mountains climbing on cliffs like the Shelterstone or Creag an Dubh Loch as well as easier classics like Eagle Ridge and Squareface.
Gogarth – British sea cliff climbing at its best.
Scottish West Coast climbing/camping trips at places like Reiff or Neist Point.
Llanberis Pass – classics on brilliant rock.
