Grew up in NE England and started climbing when I was 14 as a natural progression from Wainwright's more adventurous Lakeland scrambles. Total addiction followed but, alas, 'cured' at 24. Swapped ice gear for skis and rock gear for work. Like a lapsed alcoholic unable to resist every bar he passes, there have been a few memorable adventures over the years (not nearly enough) but with less work and more time on my hands, I'm up for a few more (although most of my gear should probably be in a museum). Hopefully UKC will be a big help in my rehabilitation!Location

Interests Outside Climbing
Keen alpine skier, reasonable golfer, adequate windsurfer, and a spot of garden railway construction for good measure (where did that come from), not withstanding family, 2 dogs, a big garden and some increasingly irregular geological consulting to help pay the bills.

Boxes and boxes and boxes of 35mm slides (some serious scanning required). Rollei 35 in the old days; currently Panasonic Lumix LX2 (nice lens for a compact and I like the 16:9 format)
