Hello all,

Trying to pick the collective brain of UKC again.

Does anyone know what the ridge west of the Pic Du Midi across and down to Lac Bleu is like to walk along? Is it easy ridge walking/scrambling or harder? Some sections look a bit knarly on the 1:50000 map I've got.

Alternatively, does anyone have any recommendations for a nice little ridge walk in that area, nothing to extreme!!

Thanks.

It won't be till the beginning of August.

Any info you could pass on please?

Thanks.

In reply to timbers: I've been up the Bigorre via the road route. I can't comment on the specific route, but my recollection of the view is of a lot of pretty sharp ridges with some decidedly saw-toothed profiles.
The general feeling I got was loose rock & grass - too hard to walk & not solid enough for gear/ropes.

Hopefully someone will have better info.

There's a description of the western section of the ridge (Pic de Merlheu and pic Crémat) here: http://philrando.free.fr/Arbizon.html#20031122
Sounds like it's not too hard, but you may need to keep slightly off the crest of the ridge.
