He's gonna wreck that fancy watch jamming on the grit !!!

In reply to chris fox: haha he actually scores really highly on the 'is this climber a douchebag' game rules over on rockclimbing.com... backwards hat, oversized sunglasses, that big ol' expensive watch and diamond studs.

still.. im sure he could afford to replace it :X

Rock climber, or someone whose publicist has seen the value of the imagery? Doubt very much that his sponsors would allow him to get seriously involved in another risk sport.

He's only a true climber if he's got guidebooks in the bog.

In reply to Jamie Bankhead: as blue_snaggler pointed about above he is not the only F1 driver to be associated with rock climbing. I doubt his sponsers have that much control over him... world champions don't have to beg for sponsers.

To quote somebody from those instagram comments 'be careful lewis, rock climbing is almost as dangerous as grosjean'

Sponsers have other things to worry about ;)

That said i would like to see some more pics.. the ones on the wall are a bit slabby..

I don't think been seen climbing is going to raise one of the most recognisable and well known names in sport.
As for risk.climbing is like knitting compared to f1.

I think the last Pope was a climber when he was a young priest

In reply to NikNakUK: One of the former Japanese F1 drivers climbed Everest - if my memory serves me well I think it was Nakajima.
Al Evans on 08 Sep 2012
In reply to Rob: I think John Denver played at rock climbing, and also Jack Keroac. Of course so did Mick Jagger. THe England wicketkeeper Bruce French is still a good rock climber.
Al Evans on 08 Sep 2012
In reply to Al Evans: Forgot to mention, Bruce has climbed Pumori.

In reply to NikNakUK: Remember seeing old footage of Mick Jagger being interviewed after climbing at Harrisons before he was famous, and there was that incident with Keef and that coconut tree maaaan!

Bang on there Jamie.

If I had Lewis Hamilton's disposable income I'd probably dabble in a whole load of "interesting" activities like climbing. Still doesn't make him a climber, but if you want to use this flimsy evidence to enhance your hero-worship feel free.

He has already said he was scared sh**less and won't be doing it again!

Mate of mine once took Frank Bruno rock climbing. Apparently Frank was shitting bricks and said he'd rather do 10 rounds in the ring anytime!

Tony Scott used to climb. Shame he didn't try a rope swing off that bridge..
danm - on 09 Sep 2012
In reply to Jon Jones: Pretty tasteless remark that, IMHO. He soloed Cenotaph Corner when it was cutting edge, bit of a wad by all accounts.

In reply to Jamie Bankhead: Jamie mate, i'm not using this'flimsy' evidence as an attempt at hero worship. Read back through it all and you'll see (despite my appreciation of him as a racer) i score him pretty highly on the douchebag climber game. And also i expressed my desire to see him climbing something that wasn't so slabby.

But still. for me it's interesting to see people who have it all getting involved in something i love, despite the inherent risk. i've enjoyed googling all the people mentioned by others to see them on a wall. For me that's interesting.... whether or not it qualifies them as a climber by your standards is well. irrelevant to me in this.

so bear that in mind if you want to argue with me. the arguement is irrelevant to me. It's not something I have any interest in engaging you on. I've responded to your previous posts in good jest.. well that was the intent at least however you have perceived them. Finito now.

thanks for all the other replies... shame there's no pics of frank bruno at a crag on google, that would of been pretty epic! 'ya know what i mean 'arry
