Topic - Standing whilst belaying from the top of a crag

| I see a lot of people standing to belay at the top of a crag after leading, with anchors behind them at the level of their feet. Is it just me or is that a little daft? As unless I'm missing something, surely if the second falls their weight will cause the belayers legs to give way and they will fall over, into what i would class as a sensible belaying position. Or have i missed something? |
