/ Lauterbrunnen valley/grindelwald accommodation

So... i've spent most of last 20 years in Chamonix climbing.
Next summer might see a change of scenery - a friend dead keen on doing Mittelligi ridge on eiger.
Any advice/recommendations on hostels/huts/cheap accomm in the vicinity?

Downtown Lodge in Grindelwald is OK. Backpackers Villa Sonnenhof in Interlaken is a *lot* nicer though if you have a train pass

In reply to markmcgladdery: There's a decent hostel/hotel with self catering down at the end at Stechelberg. Run by Anglo/Aussie couple.
