x Topic - FS: About 30 climbing books and maps

x by - Martin Brice ? on - 10 Nov 2012 - user since 31/Oct/03
Price: £75
Books and maps
£75 the lot in one go. Can deliver within 20 miles of TN4 postcode

All in reasonable condition. Most climbing guides used but all pages still in them, most covered with protective sticky back plastic. My name on them in various obvious places as I used to climb a lot with clubs and I loaned kit all the time. The routes in the guidebooks have not changed, obviously, although sometimes more have been added.

ALPINE STUFF
Used but only a few times, all in good nick, all the pages there. Am selling as I have not climbed for several years and need the money for some big travelling by cycle I plan.
Map – Matterhorn 1:50,000, covered in sticky back plastic, in good nick and a veteran of several TWMC trips to Zermatt and Saas Fee. Essential for all peaks around Zermatt
Map – Arolla, 1:50,000 with Zinalrothorn, not plasticised, not used by me. Not sure where or why I got this.
The Alpine Classic 4000m peaks, the one we all used, the Goedeke guide, indispensable for the Alps.
Valais Alps East Alpine Club, pub 1999
Valais Alps West Alpine Club pub 1998. both essential for Alpie stuff around Zermatt and Saas Fee
Glacier Travel & Crevasse Rescue (the definitive guide, and best to practise before your party encounters someone in a crevasse. I know this.)
Mont Blanc Massive, Alpine Club 1990, the Lindsay Griffin guide

Classic Rock, Ken Wilson’s definitive big daddy of them all. Well consulted, the original tick list everyone wants to do.
Hard Rock – consulted much less often…..

Staffordshire Gritstone, never been out of the house, bought June 2000. Valkyrie is in it.
Stanage bought 1993, the definitive guide, out of print for years, every climb there, indispensable. Been updated but all the best routes are in this.

Rock Climbing in England & Wales, written by an acquaintance, irrelevant
Fell Walking with Wainwright and Mike Harding Walking the Dales – coffee table books, but useful in their own way – good condition
Joe Simpson, author signed copy, The Beckoning Silence, perfect condition
