Hi all
I'm a second year sports science (ODA) student at Bangor University and as part of my course I must complete an investigation into an aspect of safety within outdoor sports. Being a keen climber, I would like to do my research within the strength of climbing gear, more specifically, carabiner strength.
I have contacted DMM and they have allowed me to test the strength of a few screw and snap gates (ageing from over a decade old to modern ones currently for sale) to breaking point using their equipment. Because I will be using DMM's facilities, I feel that it's only fair to test DMM carabiners.
So why am I posting here?
After searching eBay and Gumtree it turns out that there are a lot less second hand, 10 year old, carabiners for sale than you would think!
If anybody has any old DMM screw or snap gate krabs, even if you've written them off for use, I would be willing to give you a few quid for them.
No krab too old, no krab too errr modern.
All I ask is that they're DMM made and haven't been purposefully tampered with. I understand they'll show wear and tear.
If you comment below with what you have I'll contact you with payment details etc
Thanks
Elliot
