/ Climbers and race

As this subject is such a hardy perennial of UKC, people might be interested to read for free this article published on the subject http://www.alpinist.com/doc/_print/ALP40/40-wired in Alpinist called "Exploring the Adventure Gap". It's an American journalist writing for a American magazine so the deals understandably with the US, and in particular with African Americans. It does though kind of support what I think many of us presume; that class is as an important component of the discussion as race when asking who climbs and how they get in to climbing.

I was going to post a reference this when it came in my email a few hours ago, but after reading it I couldn't see that it went anywhere so I didn't.

In reply to MikeTS: Yep, it's not that profound but I think the class thing does come through clearly.
