Thought we were climbing Zig Zag Castle Rock of Triermain today, but we got lost on the traverse. Finished up high up on May Day cracks so we backed off. It was so cold our fingers froze. (9 a.m. start) So we thought to hell with it.

You'll have done Zag Zig then?

I have - several times. Doesn't sound like Mockerkin was off route. After the first long traverse, you ascend a short easy angled slab which brings you to the upper part of May Day Cracks. Up this for a few metres, then there's a big easy angled gangway on the left to the top. You don't follow May Day Cracks all the way to the top. Simples.

Surely this should be in the UKC News forum?

Any news on that crack? I am expecting to read that a block the size of a bungalow has fallen off...

If one of that size had gone, I'd probably have been able to hear it down here in Lancashire.

>> You have sussed us then. I must admit that we Zag Ziged. Please don't tell anyone. To none UK climbers, "sussed" means that you are suspected of doing wrong.
