/ Mountain tent advice
Most use will be for car camping but will also need to stand up to more demanding use occasionally -eg pabbay/Mingulay, Greenland, Alps etc.
Default choice would seem to be a TN Quasar but I would be interested to know of alternatives with similar spec, hopefully a bit cheaper?
Thanks in advance for any advice...
Standard advice is:
Get a tent for car camping.
Either get something palatial or something cheap and cheerful.
Preferable get something you can stand up in. This does wonders for your basic liveability.
Look at Tesco, Argos, Go Outdoors, Sainsbury, Decathlon...
You can get a small tent for car camping for under £20, and it will do the job just fine.
Get another more specialist tent for the more specialist uses.
This way your precious and expensive tent doesn't get trashed.
And you don't find yourselves all squished whilst car camping.
i have a wild country monsoon you can have for £80 + P&P
great car camping tent
currently lying in a Vango Force Ten Vortex 200 in Glencoe, first time pitched and so far so good with the rain thats on at the mo, porches are generous, inner is very roomy even if i did have someone sharing, and its a solid tent imo.
My mates has a new TN Quasar so it will be good to compare the 2 hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
Hope this helps
Hilleberg. The quality is just fantastic.
Have a look at Robert Saunders tents. Had the mountain trek for years and loved it. Replaced is with a F10 Baltoro, and the saunders was much, much better!
For 100 you could get a mountain tent shaped Coleman Phat from GoOutdoors, I say mountain tent shaped incase the materials aren't as good, but it'd stop a car camping camp being ended by heavy winds, could leave you with enough money for a 'proper mountain tent' for Greenland and the Alps?
