/ Decathlon Bikes - is one worth the extra £££ and alternatives?
I've not owned a bike since I was a kid but this year is the year I'm finally going to get one.
The general feedback on here and elsewhere is that Decathlon is a good place to get that 'starter' bike from.
Is it worth spending the extra £100 on the Triban 5 over the Triban 3?
Are there any alternatives that I should be considering in the £300 to £400 range
What other bits and pieces should I be picking up? Puncture repair kit, helmet, Team Sky Jersey?
Thanks in advance...
I'd say the better spec on the 5 justifies the extra 100. Decathlon do offer very good value for money. The 5 is also much prettier!
Go for the 5, as has better components.
Worth looking at Scott Speedster and Giant Defy, at that price or a bit more - especially if you can find one in a sale.
Get helmet, mini pump, mini tool with chain breaker and spare tubes for the ride. Puncture repair kits should ideally be used to repair the tube at home.
If you can afford a Team Sky jersey, you can afford a better bike anyway :-)
Second hand-Sould be able to get a bike worth around £800 in budget
Triban 3 has mega reviews as value for money.
Perhaps that's why they are completely unobtainable in any UK shops or on-line!
