Andes - on 22 May 2013
Along with two or three colleagues I am updating Andean peak lists. As usual the hot topic of whether the following peaks in the Cordillera Blanca are higher or lower than 6000m has come up. All five peaks have evidence leading both ways.
So has anyone taken a handheld GPS or DGPS reading on top of any of these peaks in the last few years? Or for that matter does anyone have any other relevant (and recent) survey information?
Caraz
Artesonraju
Tocllarajau
Contrahierbas
Pucajirca (Pucahirca)
Probably nobody has even climbed Pucajirca in the last twenty years, so it's a bit of a long shot that this hypothetical person bothered to take a GPS along!
Also, although it's clearly over 6000m, has anyone taken a GPS reading on the summit of either Huascaran Sur or Norte in recent years?
