In reply to tommack: Stayed in El Bahira in June. Did some climbing but only easy single pitch sport routes. Ones we did were well bolted with lower offs. El Bahira is perfect as a campsite base in terms of location as it's right under the crag. When we were there it was pretty busy with Italian families..and a nightly kids disco until midnight...
Price is reasonable though and we really enjoyed it.

We stayed at El Bagira last year beginning of November. It was very quiet, pretty much only the cabins were occupied by climbers. I'm pretty sure there were some guys still camping though. Wouldn't want to climb there in the summer as sun hits the crags pretty early and some days it was quite hot even though it was November.
You could possibly walk into town, however we had a car as it was cheaper to rent a car than to pay for transport to and from airport (there were 7 of us and we had 2 cars). Lot more convenient to drive to town (5mins) for shopping, eating out and an amazing beach. Great place.
