Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. My boyfriend and myself are heading around Europe(mainly spain and France) in our van sport climbing for the year. We are trying to consider the best and cheapest way of insuring ourselves for the whole time away. I was wondering how people had done it in the past. Any advice to do with travelling in a van around Europe sport climbing would be awesome!

Cheers,

Becky.

Austrian Alpine Club - a lot cheaper than BMC.

The AAC insurance gives you annual cover, but with a limit of eight weeks on one trip.

But by separate negotiation, they can extend this.

So the AAC gets you a helicopter ride away from the crag which is a winner, but does anybody have any advice about travel insurance that will get us home? We don't need baggage cover or missed flights or any of that mumbo jumbo, just medical and repatriation etc.

Cheers guys :)

We've used Snowcard for skiing and mountaineering holiday insurance. You can tailor the cover to what you need (to a certain extent), but I think it still covers cancellation & baggage etc. Probably worth a look https://www.snowcard.co.uk/

The AAC policy covers transfer, medical costs and repatriation after a rescue. For non-rescue insurance, aren't they all about the same - whatever's cheapest on that meercat website maybe?
