petzl charlet aztars

opinions on aztars for my first adventures in the alps?

will be doing relatively easy ice and mixed, but dont want to shoot myself in the foot by buying crap incase i get hooked on the cold stuff

Well, I use Axars - the predecessor which is not massively different for mixed and alpine and fnd them good tools. Not too heavy with decent knckle clearance.

the compact hammer head slots nicely into cracks and the adze torques ok.

The picks seem to be strong enough and have taken plenty of stick.

Daggering they are fine and the shafts are not to radically curved so as to prevent use in a belay.

cheers muchly guys.. sounds like they are a pretty safe bet for the stuff im gonna do; now to find some money!!
