Hiya guys, was pondering something so as usual thought I'd tap into the knowledge bank.............
What's everyones preference for footwear when out walking with some scrambling? I can see the advantage of a boot for grip and ankle support but can also see that an approach trainer would have it's merits in being lighter, more flexible etc.
Not looking for a right or wrong argument here, just peoples considered opinion.
PS. I know scrambling isn't like proper climbing but I'm off over to wales for a couple of days on my own for a bit of a wander and fancied getting off the main tourist paths so I figured a few scrambley ridges might be quite nice.

i've got berghaus explorer boots, they do the job fine, you can walk through pretty deep puddles, but your feet don't half get hot in the summer!!

In reply to LetoII: ive scrammbled in both trainers and boots mate, the only deciding factor is the temp and walk in out cold or wet = boots

I like 'Walsh PBs' (fell running shoes), but then I've never had weak ankles.
