im flying into san francisco, on sept 5th, and hoping to get to bishop to begin with,
ive looked on the greyhound site for transport from san fran, to bishop. but to no avail! it looks like they dont go there!
what is the best way to get to bishop from san fran, using public transpot?

any help much appreciated

There's a Greyhound bus several times a day from San Francisco, CA to Reno, NV.

Then take the CREST bus from Reno to Bishop....three times a week

It's fairly safe to hitch from Reno to Bishop.....about 180 miles.

In reply to EricpAndrew: it is often realy cheap to add on to an international flight - and a lot less hassle for the money. I would fly on to Reno. It is quite a long drive down from Reno or seems it. 4-5 hours

Reno to Bishop......180 miles, 3 to 4 hours, its nothing and such a beautiful drive....Sawtooth Range near Bridgeport......hot springs near Mammoth Lakes

Look to the right as well as the left. I've done that drive as many times as.....hmmmmmm......

Reno to Bridgeport is ho-hum, unless you are doing it for the first or fourth time, but Bridgeport to Bishop refreshes the parts of the brain that other vistas canno reach.....
