I would like to kayak from the South coast to the Isle of Wight.

What would one need to do make this a realistic prospect (assuming no kayaking experience to begin with)?

How much? Is it something you could get good enough to do in a year or so?

Assuming you get sufficient experience you will have to contend with everything from aircraft carriers to day boats.

The tides are not too bad but on springs can reach 2 or 3 knots and tyou will need to factorthis in. If you are heading across to Cowes then you will need to avoid more shipping and a strong ebb tide.

Go at low water and you can have a picnic on Bramble Bank.
