Hello,

what do you think about MT ice screws? Are they as good as BD or Grivel ones?

Do you know where I can find a general review of ice screws?

Thanks for your help,

Run

I find it hard to look past the BD Turbo Express screws.

In reply to run: They are definately not as good as the BD's. Have both, and found of dense cascade ice the MT's are virtually unplaceable. OK for Scotland and glacier ice but why waste the money on screws you can only use part of the time?

if you can't afford anything else, or can get them very cheap, and you really need some the mt ones are ok. But all the other sorts readily available are much better. (dmm, grivel, BD, charlet)

They are as good but not so easy to place. The Grivel is easiest to place, the BD express had a very small handle and the MT has no handle at all.

In reply to Anonymous: they sell a handle for 7.65 pounds on their web site, but it seems that these ice screws are not very good for ice climbing...

Thanks very much for your advices.

In reply to run: BD everytime, although the Grivel ones do go in well admittedly.
