Hot Java Lava
gets my vote ...

In reply to mark1984:

Illy is the best readily available espresso for me, but it depends on your machine.

Unless you're asking about Nescafe type filth, in which case, whichever is the cheapest.

In reply to hutchm:
enjoying a double illy espresso right now - been drinking segafredo over last couple of weeks, but illy tops it for me - period
satori 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984:

i'm currently drinking a pico duarte.

i don't have a best or favourite really.
if you switch beans regulary then you appreciate the flavour more.

The best ever coffee I have ever had was freshly ground in Laos. However, I can't find any over here.

Fairtrade have a great range for all tastes!
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to satori:
yeah

my girlfriens bought me some jamaican blue mountain as a gift - not sure i appreciated the flavour too much as i tend to drink espresso rather than french press coffee
 hutchm 10 Apr 2006
In reply to satori:

My espresso machine is currently broken. I am mostly drinking co-op brand cafetiere rubbish. No wonder I'm in such a bloody awful mood.

In reply to hutchm:
i recently bought a krups machine - couldnt afford to stretch to a gaggia classic - however if somebody would like to swap????
 hutchm 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984:

Used to have a krups. No comparison to a 'proper' machine, however. Start saving! And get a decent burr grinder while you're at it.
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to hutchm:
is a proper machine a gaggia

mine does the trick for the time being
 hutchm 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984:

Nothing wrong with a gaggia.
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to hutchm:
i would like a gaggia
 Frank4short 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984: Ha ha I have a gaggia, a grinder & a big bag of columbia supremo. Just about to have one in a minute actually when the machine warms up.

I hope, for your sake, that the narcotics squad aren't monitoring these forums!
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to Frank4short:
you have shite coffee.

no matter how good your machine is, the coffee will still taste like crap.

what gaggia you have

In reply to mark1984:

Talking of coffee machines, not a Gaggia but it still makes the best espresso I've ever tasted.

Usually buy my beans from McBeans, specialist shop in Aberdeen. No particular favourite - it's all good stuff.
 yer maw 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984: who needs coffe when you can have tea? there's something about coffee culture that I despise. probably the american aspect but all seems very wanky.
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to yer maw:

i prefer the italian/european side of it
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984:

chiling out taking it easy - instead of getting wankered all the time - more sociable
 yer maw 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984: yup, but alas the 'getting blootered' side of things is much more british. imagine the shame of having a hot chocolate or pot of earl grey at midnight on a night out with yer mates
 Frank4short 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984: That would be a matter of opinion i like columbian coffee, it's a matter of personnal taste. What's shite to me is good to you & vica versa. Dunno what it is as i bought it about 5/6 years ago, it's a gaggia & it makes nice coffee.
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to Frank4short:

i'm really only winding you up fella
 David Hooper 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984: Francis Francis X1 in Lime Green (like a friendly little pet in the corner of the kitchen and Kitchen Aid Burr Grinder.

Ive been working my way through loads of differnt fairtrade and/or organics but sadly Lavazza still seems the tops. I do keep trying new beans when available.
OP mark1984 10 Apr 2006
In reply to David Hooper:

yeah me too. it is a shame that fairtrade etc cannot match brand leaders for taste.

 kevin stephens 10 Apr 2006
In reply to mark1984:

Having travelled the world, I actually find the McDonalds consistently serve the best coffee, wouldn't recommend the food 'though.
