Looking for ideas of waterproof jackets...
So, what have you got and what is it like?

In reply to Flicka:

Rab Alpine Latok. eVent fabrics are good.

In reply to Paul F: I second Event fabrics, but I have a Montane Superfly XT. Love it. Recommended. Got excellent reviews in Outdoors Magic and others.

Cioch Marsco. (MTM stuff using Paramo fabrics). Its great for cold weather- warm, silent (unlike crunch Goretex) and soft enough to be completely comfortable. Oh, and it breaths well.

Not so useful for rain when it's hot, and it's also a bit heavy.

A Paramo Aspira smock. It's fantastic and so comfortable to wear although the Paramo system isn't for everyone.

In reply to Flicka:

Paramo jacket, Vasco or Velez for most conditions, Aspira for winter.

Alternatively try a Rab Vaporise Trail smock with a Lowe Alpine Rush jacket in reserve for really heavy rain.

Thanks for replies so far...am tempted by the Rab Latok alpine.

Any more suggestions/information on what you have?

Paramo Velez works well for me, as said not for everyone or warm weather, but unbeatable in bad weather.

In reply to Flicka: I have a mens Mountain Hardware Tenacity Parka Jacket, I'm pleased with it but I think that's more to do with the fact I paid 80 quid for it (reduced from £320!!!). If it was red instead of blue it would be perfect

Just got my normal Superfly for £80 at F&T in their sell-off sale. Not the XT, but still half price

I'm another Paramo wearer. Too hot for summer, and as said earlier it doesn't suit everyone, but it works for me. I'd never go back to a membrane jacket again.

In reply to Flicka:
Depends what you want it for. I have a Berghaus Paclite for carrying around because it weighs next to nowt, and various TNF for other conditions.

I asked a similar question last week, which might help...

Paramo every time if you can afford it. By far the most comfortable waterproof I have ever ownded I even climb in it. I've got the Aspira Guide Smock which may be a bit warm for some and to much at full price, but you can sometimes get paramo deals at ccc or the mountain factor.
