Just reading this http://www.psychovertical.com/?avoidingthevoid which - if I'm reading it correctly - says that a overhand will feed through a munter hitch under load. Can anyone verify this? Would this also work on abseil?

In reply to Dux:

I have no idea if this will work or not.

although I have passed a loaded knot using a simple prusac/ rope man + back up knot. and then taking the stitch plate off and rethreading the other side of the knot.

although I would see what AMI recommends

anyway why do you need to know this?

In reply to Dux: I have never tried, but remember always using a french prussick and an two belay/munter hitches on both my MIA training and assessment. It might work, but then again it might not, and it is not a situation I would like to be in

I have tried this (admittedly not in anger)

With care and attention it does.

looking at the link pictures it seems to me as though it would work in theory.

but whay would you wish to do this on an abseil?
surley the point of abseiling on doubled ropes is so that you can pull down and recover the ropes ?
