I have been coaching climbers for over five years, and have professionally helped over two hundred people improve beyond their expectations. I moved on from operating the planetFear coaching services* late last year, and now operate entirely on a ‘one-to-one’ or ‘one-to-two’ basis as I find this the most effective format in both cost and time for fast improvements to be made.
* I created the now famous climbing ‘coaching holiday’, and operated over twenty successful trips
This summer, I am specialising in coaching trad climbing skills in the Peak District. This includes:
Improving trad climbing confidence:
- Have your gear placements analysed - and learn to trust them
- Learn how to fall safely
- Have routes recommended that play to your strengths
Climbing tactics
- How to stack the deck in your favour by using the same trick the pros use!
- Make the most of your day by warming-up effectively
Technique
- Master the moves you dread!
- Learn how to use secure, precise footwork in all situations
- Find out what climbing in balance really means, and how to use it to your advantage.
Training
- At the end of a day’s coaching, I will be able to give a written summary of my recommendations for future improvements, and if appropriate, will detail how training can improve physical strengths (NB – I have found very few climbers are actually held back by physical strength limitations).
Who is this suitable for?
As this is climbing coaching, and not instruction, I will not be covering basic rope skills, and will assume you have basic competence in the area that you wish to be coaching in – though of course no technical skills will be required if you simply wish to improve technique through bouldering!
Under 18s are fine – but must be accompanied by a parent.
There are no grade restrictions.
Cost
A day’s coaching in the Peak District this summer is £125 – this can be shared by two if you come with a partner.
