In reply to Keith Roughley: I was asked to go to Cho Oyu with mates a couple of years ago. £5000 all in with a reputable provider. Just as well I was overseas with work, cos even though I didn't exactly have the cash floating around, I was v tempted!

Wouldn't spend $40k but I would love to do one of the lesser known ones you can do on a commercial expedition for £5k like Gasherbrum or Broad Peak.

I'd love to go, especially to the Karokaram

One of the things I want to do before I die, climb an 8000m peak, there's 250 over 7000m but only 14 over 8000m...
