About 2cm shorter than me.

Ha Ha i beat Norris to a sarcastic joke ( smug grin )

In reply to Dom Orsler:
He's this tall. (holds hand up at appropriate height)
Dom Orsler 18 Dec 2006
In reply to biscuit:

That's what I thought from when I met him. I'm 5'11" and he seemed a couple shorter than me.

Anyone else got any online ref's?

Did Norris delete his post?
 biscuit 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:

Now i've got to ask why you want to know ?

He is fairly short. If anything he was bit shorter than me.
I was also glad to see him drinking pint after pint of Guinness and bitter. Why doesn't that training regime work for me ?
 biscuit 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Norrie Muir:

Damn - i was that excited i did a typo !

You're still the king :0(
 sutty 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:

Not tall, but not much of a chance of passing him in a doorway.

My first impression on meeting him was a short, incredibly powerful person with shoulders as wide as his height, a bit exaggerated but first impressions count.
Dom Orsler 18 Dec 2006
In reply to biscuit:

Because a friend and I met him last year. We were both surprised at how short he was, but while I recall him being about 5'8", my friend claims he's about 5'4", which is approaching danny DeVito in the short man department. It boils down to settling a pub bicker.

But I can't find anything online...
 Jon Read 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:
I'm 5'5" and he's a bit taller than me. He is also about twice as wide, and plenty stronger.
In reply to Dom Orsler:

Got him to sign his book at the Dundee Mountain Film Festival last year.

He is 5 foot 8 maybe 9 and built like a brick sh**house

Alex Huber is 15ft tall, he has hands as big as tombstones and teeth like bananas.

He wears leather underpants and he eats ex-pats living in Canada for breakfast.

Mick, you could have AT LEAST quoted the Simpsons...

Dom Orsler 18 Dec 2006
In reply to kajsurfer:

Yes. 'Small' compared to Magic Johnson? Or his slightly bigger brother? Ok, so, how tall is Thomas?
Dom Orsler 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Nice, but the Braveheart quote would have been better
Simon22 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:

Out of interest how tall/heavy was Wolfgang Gullich?
In reply to Dom Orsler:

F*ck me, what a willy waving thread ... He seemed shorter than me when I stood next to him

Just like when i had a pint with ben moon ... or not.
Dom Orsler 18 Dec 2006
In reply to A Longleat Boulderer:

You miss the point and you're barking up the wrong tree. This isn't about willy waving. But feel free; if you want to wave your willy, go crazy.

There speaks the voice of Rabbi Orsler on a slack day.
 Judd_IV 18 Dec 2006

If I had a willy I'd wave it - sounds like fun.

The Joe Brown 'Ard Years quote is more authentic than some Ozzy running round in purple face paint.
 Steve Parker 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:

I hope Alex reads you lot calling him a short arse and comes and whops ya with one of his giant fists
Dom Orsler 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Steve Parker:

He is a short arse; of that there is no doubt. But I'm trying to find out how short. My friend thinks 5'4", which I think is a bit on the DeVito side. We stould around with him chatting and stuff, and I'm going for 5'8".
 andi_e 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler: I always imagined him as being 9'8 or something like that, he always looks tall in pictures, taller than his brother anyway!
 Niall 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Steve Parker:

yeah, well, he's a good climber, but I'm taller than him. So there.

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Duuuuude!
 kajsurfer 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Niall:

Duuuuuude????????
 kajsurfer 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:

Okay, here's the definitive answer. Using high powered image analysis techniques (as used by the CIA, FBI and MFI) on the following photograph:

http://www.climbing.com/exclusive/above/rt06kalymnos/index1.html

and using 9.75cm as the length of a krab, we can conclude that Alex Huber is 165cm tall or just under 5 foot 5 inches. Further confirmation of this comes from my girlfriend who waved her willy at him in the Camp 4 car park 3 years ago and she reckons he's way shorter than she is at 5'9''. So there you have it!
 kajsurfer 18 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:

And as if you needed more read this:

http://www.goethe.de/ges/spr/prt/ext/en175240.htm

".....not even 1.7m in height" that's not even 5 foot 7 inches.

You got a strange girlfriend, fella. Is this the advent of the TS climbing crew on UKC?

Your girlfriend has a willy? That's worrying

In reply to Dom Orsler:

I spoke to him briefly at Kendal last year, and my memory was that he was a little bit shorter than I am (5' 8"), so I would guess c. 5' 7"
In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

PS, he may have been even shorter than that, but he has such a huge personality, you sort of don't notice. .. And he's v v wide...
 sutty 19 Dec 2006
In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

> And he's v v wide..

that is the first thing you notice isn't it Gordon?
In reply to sutty:

Well, what I noticed was that he looked v v strong indeed, and I would NOT ever want to get in a fight with him...

(or was there some other witticism lurking there, S?)
 sutty 19 Dec 2006
In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

No witticism, just the observation. Very glad he is generally genial in company.
 kajsurfer 19 Dec 2006
In reply to Niall:

Actually it was the Hubermeister's willy that was "looming largest" over the Valley that year. Not just for his freeing of Zodiac with his bruder but also for his nonchalent wearing of ball hugging speedos on the banks of the Merced in full view of the god fearing yankee puritans. Sheesh!

By the way my "Duuuude" reply to your "Duuuude" remark was a movie reference. You missed it. And my original use of the phrase "willy waving" was ironic. You missed it. Not American are you?

Nah, we just took you literally for a larf.

Definitely 5' 7"? NOT 5' 6 and a half?
Damn, I now realise why I can't climb quite as hard as he can. Strange, though; who'd have thought half an inch would make such a difference? : )

 Steve Parker 19 Dec 2006
In reply to Marc C:

Ah, that crucial half inch dyno on the Lumbutts Directissima! Alex could cruise that with his springy feet.
 Marc C 19 Dec 2006
In reply to Steve Parker: To rub salt into wounds, the 'little' b*stard called MY Lumbutts Diretissima project "Inchland Inchland Huber Alles".

In reply to A Longleat Boulderer:

Steady on - and you're normally so placid.

Dom asked for references. The best i could think of was having stood next to him.

i don't think anyone is claiming to be buddies with him.

I saw him speak and after the show he was in the bar of the hotel and he signed a copy of Yosemite for me.

Not much of a willy to wave there.

PS i've been on stage with Paul Daniels and Mathew Kelly and my dad used to know Michael Elphick.

Does that make my willy any bigger ;0)

PPS Ben Moon really is very small - do you think he could hold a pint? Surely the glass would be bigger than him.
Simon22 19 Dec 2006
In reply to biscuit:

'i've been on stage with Paul Daniels and Mathew Kelly'

I'd keep that one quiet...........
 biscuit 19 Dec 2006
In reply to Simon22:

How dare you being on stage with Small Daniels and his tragic show was a lifetime highlight.

It was only about 5 yrs ago

Perhaps i should get my coat !

Er..no. But I'm glad to hear your girlfriend doesn't have a willy

In reply to biscuit:

Wasn't getting at you boyo. It was the fact that Dom came back with pretty much the same point... like he didn't want to be out done.

I thought it was just a little pathetic.

Obviously?!
Dom Orsler 21 Dec 2006
In reply to A Longleat Boulderer:

Here's a life tip you might want to consider; try looking for good things about people and the things they say before you start imagining the bad things. In that order.
Wes 21 Dec 2006
In reply to Dom Orsler:

twice the height of half of him

In reply to Dom Orsler:

Oh, give it a rest!
