Where do you all normally attach your sleeping mat to your rucksack? Top?...Bottom?...Side? Any nice tricks or tips? Any advice appreciated!

In reply to tornado rider:

Wrap around the inside of your rucksack to add a bit of padding.

Roll it tightly then vertical at the back/front, well the side away from you. Good old fashioned sacks eg the Karrimor Alpinist/Vallot range had a daisy chain. haul sysytem stitched there which was perfect. It does get in the way here.

Thermarest, in the sack, next to the bag.

inside if you possibly can- aside from looking neater keeps it dry, stops it snagging on things, and if it's blowing a hoolie makes walking easier. (no really it does).

karry mat- roll losely around edges of the bag and pack the rest of your kit inside it.

Thermarest- roll it up tight and next to the sleeping bag.
