Hey

I'm hoping to go to the Dolomites in the summer with my club, and planning to do some Via Ferrata. Been looking at the various self locking krabs available and trying to decide which is best. We will probably have a couple of beginners too so I'm looking for the easiest krab for them to use. Seen alot about the vertigo but can't seem to find it in the shops to have a look at.
So in short, does anyone have any advice/experience for self-locking krabs for use on Via Ferrata.
Any advice much appreciated
Cheers
Tom

I'd get your Via Ferrata kit out there - every sports and gear shop has a whole load of them.

In reply to Tom Munford: if you buy a VF shock absorbing system, most come with suitable crabs
if they dont most shops sell a suitable version separately
most popular is petzl, others are mammut salewa camp

Petzl make some self-locking krabs with a trigger inside for quick release. Makes clipping and unclipping no bother at all.

Agreed. If you take a harness you can hire the rest of the kit for a few quid.
