Just a quickie, but as part of a trip I'm doing in July I'll be trekking from Tingri in Tibet to Everest Base camp. I know that really I should be wearing boots but in order to save space I'm contemplating taking approach shoes instead? Is this a stupid idea? I'm thinking about buying a new pair of 5.10 Guide Tennie 'especially' (well....it's an excuse to buy kit really!)
In reply to mickwood:
I used a pair of trail running trainers for the walk in to Choglolisa base camp (a bit further round the glacier than K2 base camp, and about 6-8 days walking) and they were fine for me.
