Ok, Ive had the Joe Brown extendable for nigh on 40 years and it's time to replace it. The Crux AK30 looks good, but seems short on pockets. Every other pack on the market looks just like any other pack. I want a day pack for days on the crags and/or multi-pitch rock or mixed routes.
Suggestions?

Have a look at:

http://www.psychovertical.com/?perfectsack

Decide on a budget, then have a day around Betws trying on different packs.

Also worth a look:

Good luck,

I would say that you don't need pockets on a climbing sack, what do you want them for specifically?

Would highly recommend the Crux 30, excellent piece of kit.
Full rack, bivi kit and scoff for 1 day, all fits in!

Only niggle I had...the web straps from the shoulder straps were too small so I replaced them.

I also cut the white cord off the sides and replaced it with accessory cord so I could make emergency prusiks, shoe laces, guy rope etc would thoroughly recommend it, so good in fact I bought the 57 as well.

Hope this helps

PS It seems to be bomb proof as well, have hammered it and shows no sign of wear.

In reply to lylecloss: crux are fab only got my ak47 not the 30 but if it's half the bag of the 47 you have in my opinion one of the toughest most funtional bags which are pretty good on the weight side also.

In reply to Atholl de-Saint-Croix: My Crux (30) sac has been round the world with me and been abused on 5 continents... fantastic sac.

Only caution is not to leave the staves in when boarding/biking, I did, I fell, stave shattered, result was an incredibly sharp pointy metal blade sticking out the bag... if I had landed on it I would have been in a messy place.

Cheers

Thanks for the input - I guess the idea with pockets is shove a camera in and out etc. but can probably live without that, and if you have time to do that you have time to undo the top and extract it anyway.

Crux AK30 is great.

Arc'teryx Needle 35 is well worth a look (my preferred weapon of choice)
