Rock shoe care

I have a pair of Evolv Quests, synthetic. I left them in a bag too long and they have turned a bit funky. Anybody got any advice on how to clean them up? Or more specifically, anything I should not do to a synthetic shoe.

hoik 'em in the freezer is usually a favourite suggestion;
rinse 'em round inside with bicarb of soda solution / leave bicarb in them for a while & don't forget to brush 'em out afterwards.
