Alpine climbers, walkers and others throughout the UK will be saddened to learn of the death of Frau 'Paula' Biner. She died peacefully in Zermatt, Switzerland, on Tuesday 23rd October. She had reached the grand old age of 90.

Well known by many British alpinists and Matterhorn climbers, together with her husband, Bernard, she ran the Bahnhof Hotel in Zermatt for many years..........

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com: I remember the upstairs bunkroom at the Bahnhoff from the 80's. A fraught love triangle with 2 UIAGM (Scottish) Guides of my aquaintance having a head to head about the same woman on the grass of Fraus garden. We used to joke about Frau (never knew her first name)Biners 2 sons "Kari" & "Ri" - she ran the cheapest and most welcoming place in Zermatt - happy days - RIP Frau Biner.
