With all of this chat on being fat or fattist; it is official government policy in New Zealand to bar overweight people from immigrating there. Check out:

Yes.....but it is a bit rich for the UK to start denying entry to fat people when our own house is not exactly in order....we are hardly a nation of people with ideal BMI's ourselves.

It's as good as NZ! Huge obesity problem over there.

In reply to petealdwinckle: It is not being fattist or any other ---ist! Its plain common economic sense, why allow people to become part of your population when you know in advance they are likely to become a burden to your welfare services.
A lesson the UK could learn.

We could extend this idea to fast food outlets, a set of scales outside the Kebab House ejects people who are over weight !
