Does anyone know of a light breathable sock that is suitable for use with boots in desert conditions? i.e. very hot dry and sweaty

In reply to Gaz lord:

pretty much all socks are breathable, what you need is a wicking sock.

try investigating some of the smartwool trekking socks or check out x-socks if you want a totally synthetic but very well fitting sock.

In reply to satori: Thanks, will do.

random question: Does anyone have any experience with the army desert socks used nowadays? There's some going cheap on ebay but thoughts would be nice first!

In reply to Gaz lord: Whatever you wear on your feet, make sure it keeps sand out. If it is the deep sahara, the sand is like powder and gets in everywhere. Great for blisters. Sandals let it in but also out so better than trainers etc.

Socks and sandals is bad too. Anywhere.

In reply to Hay: not really sahara more death valley and Arizona desert... in summer I've got some meindl desert fox boots for a pittence off ebay, high leg n all that jazz but need some decent socks to go with... its nearly xmass
