In reply to dunnyg: I don't know, I was planning on visiting Sainsbury's tomorrow and was wondering if you think they will have any halibut in stock.

In reply to dunnyg:

the sensible answer would be yes....mostly the better known brands like 5.10, La Sportiva & Scarpa.

you may however get a better range and/or service at some of the climbing specific shop like outside and V12 though not sure what is close to you.

if they don't you could always try ASDA if you have a large store by you.

as for the origanal post. depends on which store. and you're willingness to pay over the odds. as you will do if you go to any of thier shops

In reply to dunnyg: Depends on the store. The on ein Chertsy and covent garden are really good though. Well worth the trip. If you go to Chertsy try and find an oldish (relatively speaking) guy, in his mid 30's, can't remember his name but he's usually round the shoe area and is really good.

A common (I believe) perception of S+R is that they've lots of great kit (the more expensive end of the market) and they've lots of clueless staff (not all, but many).

Which S+R shop do you intend to visit (they're a chain, in cas you didn't realise).

Hi Dunnyg,

I'm the e-commerce controller at snow and rock (recently started before I get shot down for the website being poor for climbers). We do stock a reasonable range of rock shoes however this is very dependent on each individual store. If you let me know which store your planning on visiting I can look at the stock levels for you.

All the best,

Ollie

Any chance of discount now we know who you are?

In reply to Susat:
unfortunately even I don't get one of those yet (have to prove myself first). We do price match though so if you do find something cheap...

In reply to dunnyg:

I'd second the comment about the covent garden store (or in close proximity to), sales guy was happy to spend the best part of two hours helping us out with boots.

Price wise, they're a bit steep on the la sportiva nepal's, but I suspect that that might be down to la sportiva playing silly beggars with other stores to have their kit in more or less exclusively (I say that in a vague, that's what it looks like to me kind of way).

My feet, however, didn't like the nepal fit (they're a bit too narrow across the front), which means that the whole deep-discounting thing makes no odds to me. Long story short, I'll probably buy my boots from there- I'll suck up a 10% price difference just because the service was so good. And I've not got cash to burn, so that's a lot, coming from me!

In reply to multijoy: There's a Rock On store in Covent Garden, it's twinned with Paramo. It's a specialist climbing shop chain.

In reply to Yellow Rebel: cheers everyone. went to one in manchester... guy was helpful, had some boots that fit me ( i mean shoes but i call them boots)
